Production Manager

As a Production Manager at John & Jane makes Sense, you are the driving force that keeps every production running smoothly — technically, logistically, and on a human level. You translate briefings into flawless preparation, guide teams on-site, and wrap up each production with precision.

What will you be doing?

  • Pre-production
    • Collaborate closely with the account manager to gather production information and translate it into clear technical and logistical plans.
    • Manage productions in our internal tools and safeguard structure throughout the entire workflow.
    • Involve AV Architects for productions requiring complex technical drawings, system designs, or power calculations.
    • Communicate clearly with the client about all necessary production provisions (power, rigging, timings, access, safety, etc.).
    • Coordinate in time with colleagues such as the crew planner, asset manager, and account manager.
    • Provide accurate and complete input for calculations to the account manager.
    • Join location visits and follow up on technical preparations when needed.
  • Production / On-site
    • Deliver clear, structured briefings to crew and freelancers regarding planning, expectations, build-up, safety, and responsibilities.
    • Supervise build-up and technical installation, intervening quickly if quality or timing is at risk.
    • Act as a friendly yet focused point of contact for the client, offering quick, clear, and service-oriented follow-up.
    • Actively support the client: noticing needs before they're spoken and communicating correctly, positively, and professionally.
    • Safeguard workplace safety (PPE, rigging safety, technical checks).
    • Coordinate suppliers and subcontractors to ensure all event elements come together perfectly.
    • Oversee the event on-site and guarantee a flawless technical flow.
  • Post-production
    • Follow up on de-rig and ensure correct, safe, and structured return of materials.
    • Gather all information for post-calculation, changes, and invoicing, and share it with the account managers.
  • Off-site / Internal Contribution
    • Participate in internal meetings and contribute to optimising the production process.
    • Evaluate productions during the monthly PM meeting.
    • Handle confidential information with care (pricing, client data, technical documents).
    • Represent John & Jane makes Sense professionally — as an ambassador at every stage of the process.

Who are you?

You are not only a strong technician and organiser, but also a communicative team player with natural customer focus.

  • Ideally, you hold a bachelor’s degree in audiovisual techniques or an equivalent qualification.
  • You have at least 7 years of experience in AV technology and event production.
  • You have a solid technical foundation in lighting, audio, and video.
  • You translate technical language effortlessly into clear explanations for clients and crew.
  • You stay calm under pressure and spot solutions faster than problems.
  • You are flexible, proactive, and constructively minded.
  • You communicate warmly, clearly, and kindly — even when you need to steer.
  • You excel in planning, coordination, and motivating teams.
  • You work accurately, structured, and result-focused.
  • You have a hands-on mentality, a category B driver’s license, and are willing to work evenings and weekends.
